Expanding the Neurodiversity Lens Through a Discussion About Traumatic Brain Injury with Amir Arami

In this @USAutism  Feature Release, Amir Arami, founder of Verbal Autism, and Dr. Marlo Thurman, President of US Autism discuss how their personal journeys through traumatic brain injury brought them both to the field of Autism. For Amir, his TBI led to the creation of a revolutionary online app to facilitate individualized communication for individuals who are non-speaking and on the autism spectrum. For Dr. Thurman, her TBI influenced her decision to join the US Autism Association's Advisory Board and later become the President. Within a discussion about correlations between autism and TBI, Amir and Dr. Thurman dive into some of the complex relationships between autism and TBI to provide new insights on topics surrounding wellness and sustainability for all who struggle with extremes in neurodiversity, irrespective of their diagnosis.
